Longobardia

If you are looking for a really new touristic proposal, this is the right place for you! "Longobardia" is an “European Virtual Region” whose aim is to make better known the sites of the Lombard Age (from VI to VIII Centur A.D.), which are located in Cividale del Friuli - where the Lombard Kingdom was born - and in Brescia - where it came to an end. These medieval archeological sites are going to enter the UNESCO Human Heritage.

The Lombards (or Langobards) arrived in Italy form Scandinavia and founded their first Duchy in Cividale del Friuli, where you can see important archeological sites and works of art, whereas in Brescia the last Lombard King - Desiderio - founded the amazing monastery of San Salvatore-Santa Giulia (now Museum of the City), full of medieval frescoes, sculptures and works of art.
